Tomato Garlic Rice in 20 minutes

Tomato Garlic Rice is the yummiest and the quickest version of rice I have cooked!

It’s a regular visitor at my home on weekends 😊

Here is how I cooked it in very less time…

Servings: 2

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes


  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 4 large tomato made into puree
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped carrot
  • 2 tbsp peas
  • 2 tbsp capsicum
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 2 black cardamoms
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2-4 cloves
  • 2 tbsp refined oil
  • 1 spoon garlic paste
  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp kitchen king masala
  • Salt as per taste
  • Hand full of coriander leaves

Method/ Procedure:

Step 1- Wash basmati rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.

Step 2- Take a deep pan and heat 2 tbsp refined oil.

Step 3- Add cumin seeds, black cardamoms, bay leaf and cloves.

Step 4- Add chopped onions and cook until golden brown.

Step 5- Add carrot, capsicum, peas.

Step 6- Saute them for a minute.

Step 7- Now pour tomato puree and garlic paste into the pan.

Step 8- Add red chilli powder, Kitchen king masala and Salt.

Step 9- Cook until the oil separates.

Step 10- Put soaked rice into the pan.

Step 11- Add 2 cups water and mix it well.

Step 12- Cover the lid of the pan.

Step 13- Let it cook for 10-15 minutes.

Step 14- Sprinkle coriander leaves.

Step 15- Serve hot with curd or raita.
